Mogadishu, Somalia (Onkod Radio) Residents in Mogadishu\u2019s Dayniile district on Saturday morning a staged a protest against the government land grab, local media reported. Similar protests have been going on in Mogadishu\u2019s Siinaay neighbourhood and Yaqshid.<\/p>\n
The government have been taking over lands occupied by locals who have been living there over more than 2 decades, some claiming that they have legally bought and have legal documents.<\/p>\n
Ambitious business elites have been pushing to the government to take over land which have changed hands several over sales with legal documents to take back, a step which angered the locals. The government have met resistance on several areas where they tried to grab the lands, some of them leading to deaths and injuries.<\/p>\n
This week, similar protested erupted in Mogadishu\u2019s Siinaay neighbourhood, where residents vowed to resist any attempt to hand over their land to what they identified as business people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
